Concert By The River

Last night I attended the annual ORC Concert By The River at Sunburst Ranch in Missouri. There were several of the great old standbys and some new performers as well. I’ve attended this concert many times before, even performed in it myself and this year was by far the best as far as timely starting and the shift between performers. Kudos to Hank the lineup guy! I missed the drummers, one of my favorites and where my own performances have fit in, because I thought they were later in the lineup. I also spent three hours scrubbing inside and out my old Toyota which hadn’t been washed in about two years. That ran me a little later than planned.

This young man played a fine banjo even though the humidity down on the river was swamp-like.

Gordon is one of the usual standbys at this concert and some other venues. His keyboard playing was very easy to listen to.

The crowd was up and moving because the temps were tolerable and folks were glad to be out and about visiting with one another. No one was able to stir up much dancing though.

Scott Shipley, a Nashville session musician graced the concert goers with his musical talents.

Marideth Sisco, Dana and Dennis always draw quite a crowd. She sang several old time songs dear to many hearts; Who Will Watch This Old Home Place and Frankie And Johnny among their lineup.

The final act consisted of Marideth on vocals, Hank on drums, Scott on bass, Gordon keyboard and Dana on guitar. They played some mean blues and jazz to round out the evening.

This guy turns up at all events in southern Missouri where fun people hang out. He manages to get his picture published in all kinds of cool articles. Thanks Kevin.

Lois shared one of her favorite beverages with me and to my surprise I really enjoyed it. Quite different from my standard fare of Southern Comfort this was truly a pleasant surprise and a drink to be repeated as necessary. Thank you Lois!

Gin and Limeade

a 32 ounce container
2 or 3 Tablespoons concentrated limeade
juice of 1 lime
splash of raspberry syrup
4 jiggers gin

Stir this up in the 32 ounce container.
Add ice cubes to halfway then top with cold club soda. Turn it over a few times to mix. Yummy!
