A Day in the Ozarks, page 2 of 4

Notice this isn't a Massey Ferguson, but a Ferguson.

My Uncle Butch's tractor. He worked and tweaked this thing all the time and kept it running until just before he passed.

A rats nest in an old shed. The whole place is starting to look like this.

A rusted out bucket of insulators.

Near the barn. Mom what is this? Mom says; "Sarah, I just asked (your) Dad, Kenneth Blevins, what that thing was above. Dad said it was a chopper, you would put the corn in at the bottom (somewhere) then it would go up and then out the funnel chute. We used to have a corn crib where we put the corn after it was picked that we had grown. It was on stilts (I guess to keep the rats and mice out). I cried when I looked at the house pictures again. So sad that we couldn't have kept the house preserved. After all of us kids moved away and Mom passed, the house was occupied by members of Uncle Butchs (Mithcell Harget, my brother) family for a long time. I don't know how many years tho.. And the old tractors...You should have a pic of the guys working on the tractors. There should be one of your Dad, Uncle Butch, and I believe Fred May was in one and James Southard. They were always working on one of the tractors....Love you...Mom (Eunice)

An abandoned vehicle.

  1. Sarah, I just asked Dad, Kenneth Blevins, what that thing was above. Dad said it was a Chopper, you would put the corn in at the bottom (somewhere) then it would go up and then out the funnel shute. We used to have a corn crib where we put the corn after it was picked that we had grown. It was on stilts (I guess to keep the rats and mice out).
I fried when I looked at the house pictures again. So sad that we couldn’t have kept the house preserved.

  2. Sarah..the pic of the rats nest in a shed looks familiar. I think that was a tiny shed your Dad (Kenneth Blevins) build the first time we took our house trailer across the creek to Moms house and yard. Yor Dad built the shed close to where we parked the trailer on the drive toward where the old barn and corn crib had been. It was the following year that we obtained the property across the creek from my Mom, Thelma Hargett Dall. There we parked our trailer when we would go home to the Ozarks…More tears and great memories…sigh..Love you..Mom (Euncie)
