Once you work all the greens into the pan add about a cup of chicken broth (vegetable broth for you vegetarians) and simmer till tender. Add a splash of sesame oil and a spoonful of brown sugar. Yum!

The main dish was home made macaroni and cheese with brocoli

Sauce;

Melt 4 Tbls butter in a pan

stir in same amount of flour and stir till bubbly

pour in 2 cups milk and stir continuously with a whisk, cook till thick and bubby, turn heat to low

add 1-2 cups grated or cubed cheese, I used smoked Gouda and Irish cheddar tonight, stir carefully until melted

add a splash of tabasco, some prepared mustard, a pinch each of cayenne and nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste. I love fresh ground black pepper on macaroni and cheese

Meanwhile cook about 2 – 2 1/2 cups of pasta, macaroni is fine. I used bowties because I like them so well and the last of some penne

Drain the pasta, place in an oven dish, pour the cheese sauce over it, add a couple cups of fresh broccoli florettes and give it a stir. Place in a 350 oven for about 20 – 30 minutes until it starts to bubble. You can top this dish with some breadcrumbs or such if you like.

Add a pork chop, or seared tube steak to round out the meal.

Bonnie appetite!
