The Moonmooring Fall garden is still cranking out the veggies on this date of October 26. The fact that there has not been even a light freeze yet has certainly been a big help!
Just last night with a little help from Gene I created a mini microclimate for the yellow squash plant which is covered with fruits that will hopefully be ready to eat soon. Two large heavy duty black plastic bags in the corner capture the mid to late day sun and heat, intensifying it enough to make the plant think it is closer to summer than winter. I also incorporated a few “tire donuts” early on to keep the soil warmer. It all seems to be working. Totally organic? No. But squash in October.
